Jargon glossary (RFP, iLottery, NASPL, and more)
- RFP
- Request for Proposal — a formal solicitation a lottery agency publishes when it wants vendors to bid on a contract (e.g. a new gaming system or courier service).
- RFI
- Request for Information — an earlier, non-binding step where an agency gathers vendor capabilities before deciding whether to run a full RFP.
- RFQ
- Request for Quotation — a solicitation focused mainly on price for a well-defined scope of work.
- iLottery
- A state lottery's online/digital play program — draw-game subscriptions and digital instant games sold directly through the state's own website or app.
- NASPL
- North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries — the industry trade group lotteries and vendors use to coordinate standards, jobs, and procurement notices.
- Core gaming system
- The central computer system that processes every draw-game ticket sale, validates winners, and reports sales for a lottery — usually run under a long-term contract with one primary vendor.
- Courier
- A third-party service that buys a physical lottery ticket on a customer's behalf and provides a digital record of it — a way to play a state's draw games online where the state itself doesn't offer iLottery.
