Privacy Policy
What we collect and how we use it.
Summary
1. Who we are
The Lottery Insider ("we," "us") operates thelotteryinsider.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. It applies to the Site and related email services we operate.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Feedback form — optional name, optional email, message content, and (if reporting a data error) the state and field involved.
- Jackpot alerts — email address and jackpot threshold preference; unsubscribe token stored so you can opt out.
- Weekly scratch picks / newsletter — email address and, where applicable, state preference.
- Pro Insider contract alerts — email address (must match an active Pro Insider membership); unsubscribe token stored so you can opt out.
- Pro Insider & export purchases — email address and purchase/subscription identifiers received from Buy Me a Coffee webhooks so we can unlock member features or one-time downloads.
Information collected automatically
- Server & security logs — standard request metadata (e.g., IP address, user agent, timestamps) retained by our hosting provider for operations and abuse prevention.
- Hashed IP addresses — when you subscribe to email alerts, we may store a one-way hash of your IP (with a server-side salt) to limit spam and repeated sign-up abuse. We do not use this to profile you for marketing.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — on some forms we use Turnstile to reduce bots. Cloudflare may process technical signals according to their privacy policy.
What we do not collect
We do not require an account to browse most of the Site. We do not knowingly collect government ID numbers, payment card numbers (payments are handled by Buy Me a Coffee), or precise geolocation for advertising profiles.
3. How we use information
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site;
- Send email alerts and newsletters you requested;
- Verify Pro Insider membership and deliver purchased exports;
- Respond to feedback and correct reported data errors;
- Prevent fraud, spam, and abuse;
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing.
4. How we share information
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Site, including:
- Vercel — website hosting;
- Neon — database storage for subscribers and membership records;
- Resend — transactional and alert email delivery;
- Cloudflare — Turnstile bot protection;
- Buy Me a Coffee — membership checkout and webhook notifications (they process payment data under their own policy);
- Slack (optional) — feedback notifications to our team when configured.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a merger or asset sale, subject to this Policy.
5. Email & unsubscribe
Marketing-style digests and alerts include an unsubscribe link. You can also stop jackpot or contract alerts via the unsubscribe URLs in those emails. Removing alert subscriptions does not automatically cancel a Buy Me a Coffee membership — manage billing on Buy Me a Coffee directly.
6. Data retention
We keep subscriber and membership records while your subscription or alert preference is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for support, accounting, and abuse prevention. Server logs are retained according to our hosting provider's defaults. You may request deletion of alert or feedback-related data (see Section 8).
7. Security
We use industry-standard practices (HTTPS, access-controlled databases, hashed tokens for unsubscribe links). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold.
- Unsubscribe — use links in alert emails;
- Access / deletion — contact us via the Site feedback form with the email address in question;
- California / U.S. state privacy laws — we do not sell personal information. You may request disclosure or deletion as applicable law allows.
9. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction to consent to online services). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information and we will delete it.
10. International visitors
We are based in the United States. If you access the Site from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the U.S. where privacy laws may differ from your country.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the date below when we do. Material changes may be noted on the Site. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
12. Contact
